Hyderabad Police File Five Cases Over Fake Vehicle Number Plates
Some drivers in a city called Hyderabad were doing something not allowed.
They were changing the number plates on their cars.
A number plate is the metal sign with numbers and letters on a car.
Changing it can hide who the car belongs to.
Many people complained to the police about this.
The police checked and found five cars with fake or changed number plates.
The police took all five cars away.
The law says cars must have special, safe number plates called High-Security Registration Plates.
Changing the plate, leaving out numbers, or using temporary stickers is against the rules.
Now the owners have to face the police because they broke the law.
Hyderabad traffic police registered five criminal cases against vehicle owners in one week over fake, tampered or unauthorised registration plates.
The cases were filed at Punjagutta, Chilkalguda, Kanchanbagh and Bandlaguda police limits in Hyderabad and Dindi police station in Nalgonda district.
Police seized all five vehicles involved in the alleged violations.
The crackdown followed an increase in citizen complaints about vehicles operating with fraudulent registration plates.
Officials said only government-approved High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) are legally permitted, and alterations, missing digits or temporary stickers are prohibited.
