Allahabad HC Rules High Qualification Can't Deny Maintenance

The Allahabad High Court said that a wife cannot be denied maintenance just because she is highly qualified.

The court noted that many women, despite their education, find it hard to join the workforce after taking care of domestic duties and children.

The high court set aside a family court order that had rejected the wife's application for maintenance.

The family court had said the wife hid her professional education and was living separately without a good reason.

The high court said the wife's right to maintenance cannot be taken away just because she could earn.

It also said the Rs 3,000 given to their son was too little and sent the case back to the family court for a new decision.
