SEBI's new closing auction reshapes Indian market's end-of-day trading

SEBI's new closing auction reshapes Indian market's end-of-day trading

Imagine a game where everyone buys and sells toys during school, but the price of a toy at the very end of the day matters a lot.

In India, a referee called SEBI changed the rule for how that final price is set for some shares.

Now, normal trading stops a little earlier, at 3:15 in the afternoon.

After that, everyone gets a short special round called an auction to match buyers and sellers.

The price where the most toys can be bought and sold becomes the official price for the day.

So far, the new rule has caused some exciting ups and downs and surprised some traders.

Other countries, like France and Italy, tried similar auctions before, and traders learned to adapt.

Some people worry that traders might try to trick others by placing fake orders.

SEBI wants the change to make prices fairer and trading smoother, especially for big investors.

It will take time to see if the new system works well in India.
