SRTT races against time for Tata Sons AGM

SRTT races against time for Tata Sons AGM

The Tata Group is one of India's most famous groups of companies.

A special group called the Sir Ratan Tata Trust helps take care of it.

A government official called the Charity Commissioner has stopped this trust from holding its own meetings.

The official wants to check whether the trust broke any rules.

Because the trust cannot meet, it cannot make some very important decisions.

Big Tata companies are having a yearly meeting soon, and the trust needs to be part of it.

The company's chairman, N Chandrasekaran, will be leaving next year, so a new leader must be chosen.

The trust wants to help pick that new leader.

It is now asking a court to let it meet again.

The court's answer and the investigation could take a long time.
