Medicos' parents demand revoking GO 102, keeping GO 151
Some parents whose children want to become doctors are upset about the rules for getting into medical school.
There are two sets of rules, called GO 102 and GO 151.
The parents want the new rulebook, GO 102, to be thrown away.
They think it is not fair to students from certain groups.
They want the old rulebook, GO 151, to stay.
A few years ago, some students said they were treated unfairly during medical admissions.
A high court told the university to fix the process and be fair to everyone.
The university has been using the old fair rulebook since 2020.
Now the new rulebook is confusing students and could make some smart students lose their chance, the parents say.
The government has to decide which rulebook to use.
The Medicos' Parents Association urged the state government to revoke GO MS 102 for MBBS admissions at Dr NTR University of Health Sciences.
Association president Dr Ala Venkateswarlu said GO 102, issued on July 30, harms reserved category students and conflicts with the high court ruling in WP No 11018 of 2019.
The association wants admissions to continue under GO MS 151, issued on December 4, 2020, based on a six-member experts committee's recommendations.
In 2019, after alleged injustice to reserved category students, the high court directed the university to conduct admissions transparently without affecting the spirit of reservation.
Liberation Congress Party founder president GSRKR Vijay Kumar also demanded revocation of GO 102, saying it creates confusion and denies meritorious backward class students medical education.
