India's Tamil Nadu Seeks Help on Fishermen Arrests by Sri Lanka
The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, India, is asking the Indian government to help get back Indian fishermen arrested by Sri Lanka.
These fishermen were caught by the Sri Lankan Navy, accused of fishing in Sri Lankan waters.
This has happened many times before.
The Chief Minister is also asking India to find a lasting solution, possibly by getting back a small island called Katchatheevu that was given to Sri Lanka long ago.
There's disagreement and political accusations between different parties about what should be done.
Tamil Nadu CM Stalin urges India's External Affairs Minister to secure the release of arrested fishermen.
14 Indian fishermen were apprehended by the Sri Lankan Navy on August 6 for allegedly trespassing.
This is the 17th arrest incident in 2025, totaling 80 fishermen and 237 boats held by Sri Lanka.
Stalin previously urged PM Modi to intervene on retrieving Katchatheevu island.
