Tamil Nadu Considers Weekly Chicken Biryani for School Meals
The Tamil Nadu government is thinking about giving students chicken biryani once a week during lunch at school.
The school education minister, Rajmohan, asked the chief minister to look at the idea and gave data to support it.
He also wants to change the breakfast food so it isn’t always the same.
He said the money for schools is like an investment in future scientists and economists.
He also said the national government is not giving enough money, which he thinks is bad for the state.
Tamil Nadu is evaluating a proposal to serve chicken biryani once a week in the midday meal scheme.
Minister Rajmohan has submitted a formal request to Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, citing supporting data.
The proposal follows a history of menu changes, including eggs, as noted by Rajmohan.
Rajmohan plans to revamp the breakfast menu, moving away from repetitive items like wheat and rava upma, with a budget of about Rs 15 per student.
He criticized the Union government for withholding educational funds, calling it unacceptable and harmful to the state's future.
