Jaishankar Calls for Stronger BRICS Trade, Resilient Supply Chains
S Jaishankar spoke to business leaders from BRICS countries before their leaders’ summit.
He said the world economy is being disrupted by conflicts, pandemics and climate-related events.
He wants BRICS countries to make it easier for companies to find partners and reach new markets.
He also wants supply networks to be strong enough to handle unexpected problems.
Jaishankar said countries should trade transparently and provide reliable transport and predictable business rules.
He said greater economic cooperation could help BRICS become more self-reliant.
However, he warned that self-reliance should not mean shutting out the rest of the world.
India has supported startup and innovation programs during its BRICS chairship.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar urged BRICS countries to deepen trade ties, diversify commercial relationships and build resilient supply chains.
Speaking in New Delhi ahead of the BRICS summit, he cited conflicts, pandemics and climate-related events as sources of global disruption.
