Mitsui to Invest in AM Green's Low-Carbon Aluminium Ventures
AM Green, a company backed by the founders of Greenko, has teamed up with Japan's Mitsui & Co.
They signed an agreement to work together on making low-carbon aluminium.
This means they will use wind and solar power to produce aluminium in a way that's better for the environment.
The project is part of a bigger plan to spend $20 billion on making green products.
AM Green is building a large aluminium plant in Andhra Pradesh, India, and Mitsui might invest in it.
This is important because many countries are trying to reduce carbon emissions, and using green aluminium can help with that.
Other companies are also investing in AM Green's projects, showing that there's a lot of interest in making cleaner energy and products.
AM Green and Mitsui & Co signed an MoU for strategic collaboration on low-carbon aluminium production.
Mitsui's investment will support the equity requirements for building a green aluminium production platform.
AM Green is constructing a 1 mtpa aluminium smelter and 2 mtpa alumina refining and mining operations in Andhra Pradesh.
The project is part of AM Green's $20 billion capex strategy to convert electrons into metals and molecules.
The aluminium plant will be powered by renewable energy sources, including wind, solar, and pumped hydro storage.
