Bengaluru Restaurants Threaten Swiggy, Zomato Boycott
Restaurants in Bengaluru are upset because the food delivery apps Swiggy and Zomato charge them a lot of money.
They say the apps take 8% to 28% of each order and also charge extra fees for payments and ads.
The restaurants feel this makes it hard to keep their food affordable.
Because of this, more than 1,000 restaurants plan to stop using the apps from August 15.
They want the apps to explain how they calculate the fees and to stop taking money without telling them first.
Some restaurants are looking at other delivery services that might charge less.
The restaurants say that if they keep using the apps, they will lose a lot of money.
They hope the apps will listen and change the rules.
Over 1,000 Bengaluru restaurants plan to boycott Swiggy and Zomato from August 15.
They cite commissions of 8%–28% plus extra fees for payments, ads, and discounts.
Restaurants claim the costs force them to raise menu prices by up to 43%.
They demand transparency, detailed settlement reports, and dedicated managers.
Alternatives like Open Network for Digital Commerce, Rapido, and Flipkart are being considered.
