Andhra Pradesh Monitors Bus Fares for Overcharging
The Andhra Pradesh Transport Department is keeping an eye on bus fares to make sure private bus operators aren't charging too much during the busy Sankranti holiday.
They've been watching the fares for five days using special teams and online platforms.
If they find any buses charging more than they should, they quickly tell the bus owners to lower the prices.
Private buses are only allowed to charge 50% more than the regular rates.
The department has also set up a special phone number (92816 07001) that people can call anytime if they have problems with bus fares or other issues.
Bus owners have been told to display this phone number clearly in their buses so passengers can easily see it.
Andhra Pradesh Transport Department is monitoring bus fares to prevent overcharging during Sankranti.
Fares are being monitored through RTGS supervision and Fare Monitoring Teams for the past five days.
Private buses are permitted to charge a maximum of 50% additional fare over RTC rates.
A state-wide 24×7 helpline (92816 07001) has been set up for passenger complaints.
Bus owners are instructed to mandatorily display the helpline number in every bus.
