Tiger Spotted in Buxa Tiger Reserve
A special survey is happening in Buxa Tiger Reserve to count animals and look for signs of tigers.
A tiger was recently seen in the reserve, and forest workers are trying to track its movements.
The tiger is moving towards the Bhutan border and is avoiding the usual paths that other animals take.
This makes it hard to track.
The tiger's roar was heard, and forest officials hope it stays in Buxa.
The survey will help scientists understand more about the tiger population in the area.
A six-day herbivore census and carnivore sign survey began in Buxa Tiger Reserve as part of the All India Tiger Estimation.
A tiger was spotted in Buxa Tiger Reserve on January 15, 2024, and has been moving towards the Bhutan border, avoiding regular trails.
Forest officials are tracking the tiger through pugmarks and camera traps, but the dense vegetation near the border has made it difficult.
The tiger is believed to be an adult male, possibly searching for a new territory or mate, and its movement pattern suggests it may be looking for a female.
Buxa Tiger Reserve has struggled to retain tigers in recent years, and a tiger relocation program has been in place to encourage male tigers from neighboring forests to settle.
