CXMT Sues Pentagon Over Chinese Military Company Designation

CXMT Sues Pentagon Over Chinese Military Company Designation

ChangXin Memory Technologies, also called CXMT, makes memory chips used in many electronic devices.

The U.S. government put CXMT on a list of Chinese companies it says assist China’s military.

CXMT says that is wrong because it makes chips for civilian and business customers.

The company has now sued the U.S. Department of Defense in an American court.

CXMT says the decision was unfair and was not supported by enough evidence.

It also says the listing has hurt its reputation and business opportunities.

The company says the Pentagon briefly planned to remove it from the list but changed course the same day.

CXMT wants a judge to cancel the designation.

The Department of Defense said it does not comment on ongoing lawsuits.
