Telangana Polytechnic Students Protest SHAKTI Framework Integration
Polytechnic students in Telangana are protesting a proposed change to technical education.
The plan would place polytechnic colleges under a new government department called SHAKTI.
It would also connect them with Young India Skills University.
Students worry this could make their diploma courses less valuable.
They are also concerned that moving from a diploma to an engineering course could become harder.
Some students fear they might have to study Intermediate education again before engineering.
They want the government to discuss the plan with students and teachers.
They are also asking for better laboratories, hostels, staff, scholarships and fee support.
Students across Telangana protested the proposed restructuring of polytechnic education under the SHAKTI framework.
More than 500 students rallied from Quli Qutb Shah Government Polytechnic to Bahadurpura Junction in Hyderabad.
Students said linking polytechnics with Young India Skills University could weaken diploma education and SBTET’s role.
They feared changes could disrupt the diploma-to-engineering pathway and affect employment prospects.
Protesters demanded withdrawal of the policy, consultations, infrastructure improvements, filled vacancies, scholarships and fee reimbursement.
