First Indian Duo Completes Globe Circumnavigation on Wind Power
Two women from India sailed around the world on a boat, using only the wind to move.
They traveled for about eight months, going to places like Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
Their mentor, a retired sailor, taught them to be careful and follow simple rules to avoid problems.
The hardest part of the trip was the long journey across the South Pacific Ocean.
They had to be prepared for big waves and other challenges.
They faced a navigation panel blackout for three hours.
Making it all the way around the world is a big achievement for sailors.
Lieutenant Commanders Dilna K and Roopa A became the first Indian duo to circumnavigate the globe without external help.
The officers sailed aboard INSV Tarini for nearly eight months across four continents, three oceans and three Great Capes.
They covered 25,600 nautical miles with port calls in Australia, New Zealand, the Falkland Islands, and South Africa.
Their mentor, Cdr Abhilash Tomy, emphasized the importance of basic sailing rules and careful planning.
The South Pacific leg was considered the most challenging due to its length and potential for major issues.
