Railway Ministry Announces Fare Hike
The Railway Ministry in India has announced that train ticket prices will go up starting December 26, 2025.
The increase is 1 paise per kilometer for ordinary class tickets on journeys longer than 215 kilometers, and 2 paise per kilometer for non-AC and AC classes in mail/express trains.
Suburban train services and season tickets will not see any change in fares.
The ministry says this change is to make sure trains can keep running while still being affordable for passengers.
For example, a 500-kilometer trip in a non-AC mail/express coach will cost about Rs 10 more.
Tickets bought before December 26, 2025, will not be affected by the price increase, even if the journey is after that date.
Passengers traveling from Bhopal to Delhi or Mumbai will have to pay Rs 14 and Rs 15 more, respectively.
Similarly, traveling to Patna from Bhopal via a mail/express train will cost passengers Rs 15 more.
