UDF Convener Reverses Stance on PM SHRI Scheme
Imagine a school plan that the government wants to start.
A man named Adoor Prakash, who leads a group of politicians called the UDF, first said his group would start the plan.
But a few days later, he changed his mind and said they would not start it.
Some of his own team and another group of politicians disagreed and said the plan had never been decided yet.
They want to wait for a special report before deciding.
The change shows that some members want money from the central government, while others worry the plan will make schools follow a single set of rules.
Other political groups said the UDF was being fake and trying to please the BJP.
They also said there is no punishment if the plan is not started.
UDF convener Adoor Prakash reversed his earlier pledge to implement PM SHRI scheme.
The reversal followed opposition from UDF members and the CPM‑led LDF.
IUML leader PK Kunhalikutty said the scheme had not been formally discussed and would wait for a cabinet sub‑committee report.
The UDF’s flip highlights tension between Congress (seeking central funds) and IUML (concerned about curriculum centralisation).
CPM and CPI criticized the decision as hypocrisy and an attempt to appease BJP, noting no legal penalty for non‑implementation.
