Supreme Court stays HC order quashing Karur stampede victims' jobs

Many people gathered at a political rally in a town called Karur in India, and sadly 41 people died in the crowd.

The rally was held by a party called Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, led by Vijay, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Vijay's government decided to give government jobs to the families of the people who died in the stampede as a way to help them.

A court called the Madras High Court said those jobs were not allowed, saying everyone must have a fair chance at government jobs.

The government asked the Supreme Court, the highest court in India, for help.

The Supreme Court said the jobs can stay for now while the case is studied more.

The judges asked why anyone would stop the government from giving a job to the son or daughter of a family whose only earner had died.

This decision is temporary, not the final one.

Investigators from the CBI are also still looking into what caused the stampede.
