WHO Experts to Address Global Health Risks of El Niño

WHO Experts to Address Global Health Risks of El Niño

El Niño is a natural weather event that happens in our world.

It can change weather patterns all around the globe.

Because of El Niño, places may get very hot, very dry, flooded, or hit by big storms.

These weather changes can make people sick.

People might get heat sickness or diseases from dirty water and insects.

Some people may not get enough healthy food to eat.

Bad weather can also make people feel sad or stressed and can shut down hospitals.

On August 12, health experts from the World Health Organization will meet with partners to talk about these risks.

They will share good ideas on how governments and communities can prepare and stay safe.

The goal is to reduce health problems before, during, and after El Niño happens.
