BMC Plans IoT Ultrasonic Meters to Track Tanker Water

BMC Plans IoT Ultrasonic Meters to Track Tanker Water

Mumbai’s civic body wants to use smart water meters at places where tankers collect water.

These meters will measure how much water each tanker receives.

They will send the information to a central computer every 15 minutes.

This could help officials see tanker supplies almost in real time.

Currently, workers record much of this information by hand.

The older mechanical meters cannot automatically send readings to the city’s systems.

The BMC says the new meters should work better when many tankers arrive at once.

The plan is intended to improve water accounting and reduce suspected theft.
