Northern Railway Leads CCTV Coverage in Indian Railways
Indian Railways has been installing CCTV cameras at many stations and trains to keep passengers safe.
Northern Railway has the most stations with CCTV, while Western Railway has the most CCTV-equipped trains.
These cameras use smart technology to detect things like people loitering or someone falling.
Over the past few years, these cameras have helped detect nearly 10,000 security-related incidents.
The goal is to make travel safer for everyone.
Indian Railways has installed CCTV systems at 3,215 stations and 13,409 passenger coaches.
Northern Railway leads with 425 stations equipped with CCTV, followed by Western Railway (391) and Eastern Railway (271).
Western Railway has the most CCTV-equipped coaches (1,735), followed by Northern Railway (1,483) and Southern Railway (1,481).
CCTV cameras use AI-based video analytics to detect security incidents like intrusion, loitering, and fallen persons.
Over 9,840 security-related incidents have been detected by these systems from 2023 to 2026.
