Padikkal's Maiden Century Powers India to 288/2 Against Sri Lanka

India and Sri Lanka are playing a Test cricket match against each other in Galle, Sri Lanka.

A Test match is a long game that lasts several days, where the teams take turns batting and bowling.

On the first day, India's captain won the coin toss and chose to bat first.

Batting means trying to score runs while the other team bowls to you.

Devdutt Padikkal played brilliantly and scored 131 runs without getting out, which is called a century, a very big score.

It was his first Test century, and he reached it in 134 balls.

His teammate KL Rahul scored 77 runs but had to leave the field because his leg muscles cramped up.

Another Indian player, Yashasvi Jaiswal, got out after getting confused with Rahul while running between the wickets.

Rain and bad light stopped the game a few times, but the players came back and kept playing.

By the end of the day, India had 288 runs and had lost only 2 players, which puts them in a very strong position.
