Abhinandan’s Release Recalled As Pilot Retires From IAF

In 2019, India and Pakistan had a dangerous fight involving military aircraft.

An Indian pilot named Abhinandan Varthaman had to eject from his damaged plane and was captured in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

India demanded that Pakistan return him safely.

The situation was serious because both countries feared the fighting could become a much bigger war.

Pakistan announced that it would release him after he had spent nearly three days in custody.

Abhinandan crossed back into India on March 1, 2019.

His calm return made him a symbol of courage in India.

He later received the Vir Chakra for his actions.

Now, after leaving the air force early, he has reportedly become a commercial pilot with FLY91.
