Left Plans Bengal Comeback with CPI(M) Kalyani Convention, Kolkata Meet
A political group in West Bengal called the CPI(M) is planning a big meeting in a town called Kalyani.
They want to cheer up their workers and make a plan for the coming months.
Lately, their group has not done well in elections, so they want to get stronger.
The meeting will talk about schools, jobs for teachers and other public problems.
There will also be a second meeting in the city of Kolkata on August 11.
A student leader named Neha Bora will come to that meeting.
She became famous after she went without food for 23 days to ask the Education Minister to leave his job.
At the Kolkata meeting, people will ask for fair entrance exams and better schools for everyone.
They will also ask to stop private companies from taking over education.
Both meetings are about students and young people having a stronger voice.
The CPI(M) will hold a state-level convention at Kalyani in Nadia during the second week of August to assess its organisational condition and revive cadre morale.
Senior leaders, including CPI(M) state secretary and politburo member Mohammed Salim, are expected to address the convention.
AISA national president Neha Bora will attend a discussion meeting at Moulali Yuva Kendra in Kolkata on 11 August.
Bora became nationally prominent after leading a 23-day hunger strike at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The Kolkata meeting will press demands including abolition of the National Testing Agency, withdrawal of the National Education Policy and opposition to privatisation of education.
