Delhi Zoo: Four Tiger Cubs Die Weeks After Birth
The Delhi Zoo had a rare event: a tigress named Aditi gave birth to six cubs!
Sadly, most of the cubs got sick.
Two died soon after birth, and two more died recently.
The vets think it might be an infection, like a virus or something similar to malaria.
The remaining two cubs are being looked after in the hospital.
They are being hand-fed milk and getting lots of care to help them get better.
Zoo staff are working hard to figure out what made the cubs sick.
Six Royal Bengal tiger cubs were born at the Delhi Zoo on August 4th, the largest litter in two decades.
Four cubs died within weeks of birth; two died on Friday morning.
Cubs displayed symptoms of illness, including dullness and loss of appetite.
Samples sent for investigation suggest a possible viral or haemoprotozoan infection.
The surviving two cubs are under veterinary care and being hand-reared.
