India Approves ₹30,000 Crore Subsidy for Oil Firms
The Indian government decided to give ₹30,000 crore to oil companies like IOC, BPCL, and HPCL.
These companies were losing money because they sold cooking gas (LPG) for less than it cost them.
This money will help them keep buying oil and making sure people can still get LPG at a good price.
The government didn't raise the price of LPG even when it cost more to buy, so this subsidy helps the oil companies cover their losses.
The Union Cabinet approved a ₹30,000 crore subsidy for state-run oil companies.
The subsidy compensates Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum for losses.
Losses were incurred from selling LPG below cost over the past 15 months.
The compensation will be paid in 12 tranches.
This aims to ensure continued LPG supply to households.
