Bengaluru Hotels Threaten Swiggy Boycott on Aug 15
The Bangalore Hotels Association says it will stop working with the food‑delivery app Swiggy from August 15 if the company doesn’t fix problems with how it pays restaurants.
The hotels say Swiggy takes too many fees, like advertising costs, without asking first, and that the money they get is less than half of what customers pay.
Swiggy hasn’t replied yet.
A rival app, Zomato, is also being complained about.
If Swiggy fixes the issues in 15 days, the hotels will keep using it; otherwise, they will stop all orders through the app in the city.
Bengaluru hotels will suspend all business with Swiggy from Aug 15 unless payment issues are resolved.
The dispute centers on unauthorized advertising charges, unclear commission breakdowns, and GST‑related deductions.
Swiggy has not yet responded, while rival platform Zomato also faces similar complaints.
Restaurants have received as little as 40–50% of billed order value due to multiple deductions.
If Swiggy rectifies the issues within 15 days, the association will continue working; otherwise, a city‑wide blackout is planned.
