Mumbai CJP Protest Targets CEC Over Electoral Rolls, SIR

The Cockroach Janta Party wants Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign.

The group says it is unhappy with how electoral rolls and a voter-list review called SIR are being handled.

Its leader, Abhijeet Dipke, announced a protest in Mumbai on October 2.

The planned protest is at Shivaji Park, even though Mumbai Police denied permission.

Dipke said the group would hold a “Jail Bharo Andolan.”

Other supporters are planning a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

Some political leaders and activists have supported the demonstrations.

The Election Commission says all three of its members agreed on the SIR decisions.
