Delhi Introduces New Rules for Tree Felling and Transplantation
Delhi has updated its rules for cutting down and moving trees.
Now, a special group from the Supreme Court will check if it's okay to remove a lot of trees.
This is to help save the city's trees.
The government hopes this new plan will make the process more open and organized.
If anyone illegally cuts down many trees, the special group must be told right away.
Some people think this is a good idea to help keep the city green, while others suggest better management of trees.
New Delhi has a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for tree felling and transplantation.
The Central Empowered Committee (CEC) appointed by the Supreme Court will review requests for felling 50 or more trees.
Tree officers still handle permissions for felling 49 or fewer trees.
The SOP aims to increase transparency and structure for tree removal.
Eco activists and officials have expressed concerns on the diminishing green cover and its management.
