Odisha Assembly Adjourned Amid BJD Protest
In Odisha, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) party is upset.
They are protesting in the state's Assembly because they think the government is taking away the powers of local leaders in the Panchayati Raj system.
The BJD members are making a lot of noise, and the Speaker tried to continue the meeting, but it was too chaotic, so the Assembly was stopped until later.
The BJD says that the government is weakening the local governing system, taking power away from elected representatives and giving it to government officers.
The Congress party also protested and said that the ruling party and the opposition are working together to stop discussions.
BJD protested in the Odisha Assembly regarding alleged government attempts to curtail PRI powers.
Proceedings were disrupted, and the Speaker adjourned the House.
BJD legislators voiced opposition, shouting slogans.
Congress MLAs held a silent protest with placards.
BJD Chief Whip Pramila Mallik accused the government of dismantling the Panchayati Raj system.
