IDFC First Bank Raises $500 Million in Overseas Bonds

IDFC First Bank borrowed $500 million from investors in other countries.

It did this by selling bonds, which are promises to repay borrowed money.

The bonds pay investors a fixed interest rate of 5.625%.

They are scheduled to mature in 2029, when the bank must repay the principal.

The bonds were issued through the bank’s unit at GIFT City.

The offering was made outside the United States under a rule called Regulation S. Large investment firms, including BlackRock, Capital Group and AllianceBernstein, participated in the deal.

The bank said the transaction will help it find more ways to raise money and enter global debt markets.
