Nurse Suspended After Infant's Thumb Severed in MGM Medical College
A tiny baby in a hospital in Indore, India, lost his thumb when a nurse was putting in a tube for medicine.
The nurse used scissors and accidentally cut the baby's thumb.
The hospital boss said this was very bad and quickly punished the nurse.
They also made three other nurses give back some of their pay.
Now, a group of doctors and nurses are looking into what happened to make sure it doesn't happen again.
The baby's thumb was sewn back on, but doctors aren't sure if it will work normally.
The baby's mom said she told the nurse about the baby's swollen hand, but the thumb got cut when they were changing the tube.
A one-and-a-half-month-old infant's thumb was severed during a medical procedure at MGM Medical College in Indore.
Nurse Aarti Shrotiya was suspended, and three nursing in-charges had their salaries withheld for one month.
The incident occurred while inserting an intracath, allegedly due to negligent use of scissors.
A high-level inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the incident, with the report due on Friday.
The infant's thumb was reattached at a super-specialty hospital, but full recovery is uncertain.
