Boomer Resentment Misguided, Focus on Debt
People often blame baby boomers for many problems, like climate change and wealth inequality.
However, much of this blame is misdirected.
Boomers faced higher mortgage rates and much of the climate damage happened before their time.
Young people today actually have more wealth than their parents did at the same age.
Instead of blaming boomers, we should focus on the real issue: increasing entitlement spending for seniors, which is making the national debt worse.
Young people are reluctant to cut these benefits because they see them as something they will also receive when they are older.
Additionally, there is a cultural taboo against cutting benefits for the elderly.
The idea that the welfare state can be expanded indefinitely is misleading, as the government's spending ability is more limited than the market's production capacity.
Ignoring this problem will not make it go away.
