Warner Bros. and Toho-Towa Group in Japan Deal
Warner Bros.
is teaming up with Toho-Towa Group in Japan for movie distribution.
Starting in 2026, Toho-Towa will handle the release of Warner Bros.
films in Japanese theaters.
This means Warner Bros.
will close its own distribution team in Japan, but will keep other businesses like streaming and licensing running.
This approach allows Warner Bros.
to work with a local expert and better compete in the Japanese market.
It's similar to how other Hollywood studios operate there.
This deal doesn't include all of Warner Bros.'s activities, just the theatrical movie releases.
Warner Bros. entered a licensing agreement with Toho-Towa Group.
Toho-Towa's Towa Pictures will handle theatrical distribution in Japan.
