Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati Bus Service Resumes After Three Years

Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati Bus Service Resumes After Three Years

A bus service linking Imphal, Dimapur, and Guwahati has started again after more than three years.

The service had been affected by conflict in Manipur.

On its first trip, 125 people travelled in two buses and five smaller vehicles called wingers.

The convoy travelled on National Highway 2 through Kangpokpi and Senapati.

It was protected by security forces.

People welcomed the return of the service because it makes travel easier and cheaper.

One official said a bus ticket costs about ₹1,500, while a flight can cost ₹6,000 to ₹9,000.

Passengers hoped the journey would bring peace and help communities move beyond past violence.

Traveller Kiyam Kumarjit Singh asked people to forgive and forget the past.
