Delhi Govt Plans New Hostels for Visually Impaired Girls, Reopening Closed Facilities
The government in Delhi wants to build new places for college girls who can't see well to live in, making sure there's one in every part of the city.
They also plan to fix and reopen old student housing that was closed down.
The minister said that the previous government didn't take care of these places, causing them to fall into disrepair and shut down.
One school, which had space for many students, closed because the building was old and there wasn't enough money.
The current government wants to make sure all students, especially those from families that don't have a lot of money, have a safe and good place to stay while they study.
They are also working on other projects like reopening an ashram and helping students with special training and sports.
Delhi government plans to establish hostels for visually impaired college girls in every district.
Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh announced the plan during an inspection of the Isapur residential school.
The minister alleged that the previous government neglected and shut down several student hostels, citing corruption in coaching institutes.
The Isapur residential school, which catered to underprivileged students, closed in September 2024 due to poor building conditions and lack of funds, despite having capacity for 1,200 students.
The government also plans to reopen the Sanskar Ashram and inaugurate a hostel for visually impaired college girls in Timarpur.
