Andhra Pradesh Directs Strict Adherence to Energy Conservation Building Code
Imagine a special rulebook for building new houses and buildings, called the ECBC.
It helps make sure these new places don't waste a lot of electricity.
The boss of an energy group in Andhra Pradesh, Ms. Nagalakshmi, told everyone to follow this rulebook very carefully.
This means both government builders and private builders must use smart ways to build that save energy.
She also wants more people to buy appliances like refrigerators and air conditioners that have special energy-saving stars on them.
This will help save electricity across the whole state and be better for the environment.
APSECM CEO S. Nagalakshmi has directed officials to boost energy efficiency and conservation efforts across Andhra Pradesh.
All new constructions must adhere to the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) standards, enforced by urban local bodies.
Focus sectors include buildings, industry, municipalities, agriculture, and transport, guided by the State Energy Efficiency Action Plan.
Awareness campaigns will be intensified to promote energy-efficient appliances and the Standards and Labelling programme.
Initiatives like demand-side management in agriculture and municipalities are to be expanded with continued training.
