Durga Temple Closed for Lunar Eclipse: Rituals and Reopening

The Durga Temple in Vijayawada, also known as Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam, closed its doors on Sunday afternoon because of the lunar eclipse.

This is a religious tradition.

Before closing, priests performed special rituals.

The temple will reopen early Monday morning after more cleansing rituals.

Early morning services will be canceled, with darshan starting later in the morning.

Thousands of devotees participated in Pournami Giri Pradakshina earlier in the day.
