Gold Production Set to Begin at Jonnagiri Mine in AP
Imagine India needs a lot of gold, but doesn't make much itself, so it buys a lot from other countries.
A company called DGML is about to start a gold mine in Andhra Pradesh.
They got permission to start and are waiting for final approval from the government.
The mine will make about 70 kilograms of gold each year at first, which will help the country make its own gold.
They hope to make even more gold in the future to reduce the amount of gold India has to buy from other countries, saving money and helping the country become more independent.
Gold mining operations are set to begin shortly at Jonnagiri in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh.
Deccan Gold Mines Limited (DGML) will be the first private company to commercially produce gold in India.
Initially, the mine is expected to produce approximately 70 kilograms of gold annually.
The company aims to reach a production capacity of 1,000 tonnes of ore per year in the next four years.
The project aims to reduce India's reliance on gold imports.
