Sundri Uttamchandani’s 100 Sindhi Stories Head To Online Audio Repository

Sundri Uttamchandani was an important writer in the Sindhi language.

Her daughter, Asha Chand, is helping turn 100 of her short stories into audio recordings.

About 35 stories have been recorded so far.

The recordings are being made in Mumbai.

They are meant for young people who can speak or understand Sindhi but cannot easily read its traditional script.

Chand and Ashok Chanchlani perform different characters in the stories.

The project has taken more than 10 years because it is hard to find people who speak Sindhi accurately.

Sindhi Sangat is also holding a story-reading competition for older school students.

These efforts are intended to help more young people discover Sindhi literature.
