Coal India Appoints CMD as CEO
Coal India, which produces most of the coal in India, has decided to make its current leader, B Sairam, also the CEO.
This means he will have more responsibilities to help the company produce more coal and explore other important minerals.
Before this, he was leading a smaller part of the company and worked on important projects like building roads and getting permissions to mine coal.
The company wants to produce 900 million tonnes of coal this year, which is a lot!
This change is to make sure the company can meet these big goals.
Some people think the government told them to do this, while others think it's for technical reasons.
The company is also working on solar power and making sure they mine coal in a way that's good for the environment.
Coal India Ltd (CIL) appointed B Sairam as CEO in addition to his role as CMD.
The decision was made to streamline leadership and meet production targets, possibly due to government directives or technical reasons.
CIL aims to produce 900 million tonnes of coal by the end of the financial year 2025-26.
Sairam previously served as CMD of Northern Coalfields Limited and has experience in coal logistics, environment clearances, and sustainable mining practices.
CIL accounts for over 80% of India's domestic coal production and is also exploring solar power and critical mineral acquisitions.
