Telangana's Deworming Campaign Delayed by Substandard Drugs
The state of Telangana in India is delaying its annual deworming program, which gives medicine to kids and pregnant women to get rid of worms.
This is because the tablets they were going to use were found to be bad quality.
The company making the tablets was blacklisted because they kept making bad medicine.
The government is now getting new tablets made by a different company to start the program.
Deworming is important to help children grow healthy, do better in school, and keep everyone healthy.
Telangana's annual deworming campaign delayed due to poor-quality albendazole tablets.
The campaign, usually in February, was postponed after issues with tablets from a Madhya Pradesh-based manufacturer.
The manufacturer was blacklisted after multiple batches of tablets failed quality tests.
A new company in Haryana is now producing the tablets to replace the defective stock.
Albendazole tablets are used to treat worm infections in children and pregnant women.
