BHU Transfers Agricultural Tech to Industry for First Time
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has made a big step forward by giving a new type of Moong Dal seed to a company called Star Agriseeds.
This is the first time in BHU's 108-year history that they have given agricultural technology to a company.
The new seed, called HUM-27, grows quickly, has high protein, and is good for farmers in many states.
BHU and Star Agriseeds signed an agreement to work together.
The university's leader, Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, said this is important because it helps farmers get better seeds.
The company will sell these seeds to farmers to help them grow more food.
BHU transferred its first agricultural technology, HUM-27 Moong Dal variety, to Star Agriseeds Private Limited.
The technology transfer is a historic milestone for BHU, marking its first such transfer in 108 years.
An MoU was signed between BHU and Star Agriseeds for seed production and marketing.
The Moong Dal variety has high protein content (28.9%), short plant height (44 cm), and a short maturity period (62-76 days).
The technology transfer aims to bring research benefits to society and improve farmer welfare.
