Reliance Industries Spin Offs Consumer Business into New Unit Approved
Imagine a big company, Reliance Industries, that has different parts.
One part sells things like snacks and drinks.
The company decided to put this part into a new, separate company called Reliance Consumer Products.
The government okayed this change on June 25th.
This move is like giving the snack and drink business its own special house to help it grow and attract people who want to invest money in it.
The company will still be a big owner, but having its own house might help it do even better.
Reliance Industries (RIL) is spinning off its consumer business into a new unit called Reliance Consumer Products (RCPL).
The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) approved the scheme on June 25.
Currently, consumer goods are under Reliance Retail Ventures, while Reliance Retail also handles FMCG.
The restructuring aims to consolidate consumer brands under RCPL and attract more investors.
RIL will hold an 83.56% stake in RCPL after the restructuring.
