Lokayukta Orders Inquiry into Bhu Bharathi Fraud
A routine check by the Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) in Jangaon found a big financial fraud.
Someone took money meant for the government but didn't pay it.
They changed the payment records to hide what they did.
The police are now investigating to find out who did it and how.
The fraud happened when people were registering land, and the full amount wasn't paid to the government.
Instead, only a small part was paid, and the rest was stolen.
The police think at least six people might be involved, including some government employees.
The Lokayukta has ordered an inquiry into these irregularities, warning that those involved will face action.
The government has been asked to submit a report on the matter.
Lokayukta ordered an inquiry into irregularities in Bhu Bharathi registrations after a fraud of Rs. 8.55 lakh was detected in Jangaon.
The fraud involved underpayment of stamp duty and registration fees, with full amounts collected but not remitted to the government.
Challan payment receipts were digitally altered to show full payments, misleading government officials.
Preliminary evidence indicates organized and premeditated financial fraud, with at least half a dozen persons potentially involved.
Police have booked the case under relevant provisions of the BNS and IT Act and are investigating the modus operandi.
