Chennai: GCC Releases Street Vendor List of 35,588
The city of Chennai has made a list of all the street vendors, which is like a roll call for people who sell things on the streets.
There are over 35,000 vendors listed across 15 areas.
This is part of a plan to make sure these vendors are recognized and can keep their jobs, following rules set by the court.
The city is holding meetings where people can share any concerns or ask questions about the list.
After that, the vendors will be officially chosen and given ID cards so they can keep selling.
You can see the list online and at some city buildings.
The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has released a list of 35,588 street vendors.
The list covers 15 administrative zones within Chennai.
This is part of the 2025 Street Vendors Survey under the National Urban Livelihoods Mission.
Public grievance redressal meetings will be held June 16-18 at zonal offices.
Final vendor selection is set for June 26, with ID cards issued June 27.
