TMC rebels demand Mamata Banerjee distance from Abhishek
At a rally in Kolkata, a senior leader of the Trinamool Congress party, Madan Mitra, gave the party's chief, Mamata Banerjee, a one-month ultimatum to stop relying on her nephew Abhishek Banerjee and instead reconnect with the party's grassroot workers.
Mitra accused both Mamata and Abhishek of sidelining workers and causing the party to split.
He also criticized Abhishek's use of private aircraft, alleging that the money spent on such luxuries belongs to the party workers.
The rally was part of the annual Martyrs' Day observance, which commemorates a 1993 police firing that killed 13 Youth Congress activists.
This year's observance saw unprecedented division within the party, with three separate rallies held in Kolkata.
