Govt. Extends Full Gratuity Benefits for NPS and UPS Employees
The government has made a big change to how government employees get their pensions.
Now, people in the NPS and UPS pension plans will also get gratuity, just like those in the older OPS plan.
This means they get money when they retire or if something happens to them.
A minister said this is a big step to treat all government workers the same.
The new rule means they can get up to 25 lakh rupees.
If a worker passes away or can't work, their family can pick which pension plan works best for them.
A union leader is happy with the change and hopes more people will choose the UPS.
The government extended full retirement and death gratuity benefits to all NPS and UPS personnel.
This brings NPS and UPS benefits in line with the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
Union Minister Jitendra Singh made the announcement.
Gratuity benefits up to Rs 25 lakh will be provided.
Family members can choose between UPS, NPS, or OPS benefits in case of an employee's death, disability, or removal from service.
