The CBI has started a case about how rice was allocated for sale.

It suspects that some former government officials, companies and traders worked together improperly.

The rice was connected to a government program called the Open Market Sale Scheme.

The Food Corporation of India allegedly lost Rs 28.87 crore.

A total of 62,000 metric tonnes of rice was assigned to NERAMAC.

About 50,645 metric tonnes was reportedly collected.

The rice was supplied at a lower rate of Rs 23,200 per metric tonne.

The CBI has named eight accused in its first information report.
