China Provides $2.2 Million Aid to Nepal Flood Victims

China gave Nepal $2.2 million to help people affected by severe flash floods.

The Chinese government provided $2 million.

The Chinese Red Cross provided another $200,000.

China’s leaders expressed sadness about the deaths and damage.

The Chinese ambassador gave the government cheque to Nepal’s finance minister.

The floods destroyed homes, roads, bridges, vehicles and hydropower projects.

Nepal reported 903 deaths and nearly 4,250 missing people.

The flood was believed to have started after ice and rocks collapsed near the Nepal-Tibet border.

Floodwaters then traveled through the Bhotekoshi River into Nepal.

People on the Chinese side also died and remained missing.
